About me

Jocelyn (she/her/elle) I am a white settler, currently based in so-called Ottawa on un-ceded, unsurrendered traditional territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation. I am a multi-disciplinary artist that works with the body and the body's interaction with environment, sound, space, concept and other bodies. I'm curious about the vibrating body, but also its capacity for stillness, sometimes I prefer order - but mostly I like chaos.

In 2012, I began living between Canada and England. While in London, I participated in artistic research at the iconic Barbican Centre, created and presented in collaboration with Huddersfield University and participated in the Suffolk High Tide Festival with Sounding Motion. In 2015, I was mentored by Peter Boneham in creative process as part of creation platform Projet Brut, and presented my work on different stages housed in Arts Court in Ottawa. In 2017, I presented my work Time + Light at the Robin Howard Theatre as part of Resolution Dance Festival in London.

Since the pandemic I have created two short dance films. My film Gold was presented as part of Dance On Screen at the Mayfair Theatre in Fall 2021. I have presented several live works this past year with the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts and Ottawa Dance Directive.
